Worldwide Incidence of HPV Genotypes in Invasive Cervical Cancer

A better understanding of the proportion of invasive cervical cancer caused by different human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes can help inform prevention efforts such as vaccines and screening tests and may ultimately reduce the global burden of cervical cancer. To this end, a report published in The Lancet estimated the proportion of invasive cervical cancer caused by different HPV genotypes at the global, regional, and national level.
